There is tons of advice out there on internet marketing. I know. I have started, and failed, started again, and failed. Started again. The problem, is that the beginning marketer does not know how to sort through all of the products and advice out there to get started without getting over-whelmed and inundated with a million products. Thank goodness, there is help for the newbie.
First of all, internet marketing is a business and needs to be treated as one. There are many get-rich-quick schemes out there which get you all excited about making millions of dollars online with little or no effort. People buy into these, paying anywhere from a few dollars to thousands and become disappointed when their little or no effort pays no dividends.
There are, however, ways to help the beginner get started without having to pay for a million products and invest a lot of money to get started. What do you have to put in? Time and hard work. Those two have a dollar cost as well. The old adage rings true. Time is money.
However, you wouldn't take a college course at night or online and not expect to put in the time and effort, would you? You shouldn't expect not to put in the time and effort if you want to earn money online either.
The beginning internet marketer becomes confused by being bombarded by all of the advice that is out there. Do I buy this product and learn about Social Networking? Building a List? SEO? Copywriting? How do I put all of this together?
When I started, that was my problem with internet marketing. I bought this program which was going to do everything for me. Then I had to build a website. How do I do that?
Then I had to build a client list. How do I do that? How do I manage it? I had to make sure that I had copywriting skills to be able to convince people to buy my product. How do I do that?
I had to be able to make sure that the search engines ranked my website high so people could find it. How do I do that with Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
Now I have to learn about Social Networking. What's a tweet?
I ended up buying all of these different products, getting torn in one direction and another, and not knowing how to put it all together. There are companies out there that will charge you thousands of dollars to assist you in starting a online business and you end up with nothing but debt.
After my experience with internet marketing, I believe what the beginnner needs is a way to walk them through the steps. I began with learning some about copywriting and found someone willing to teach me how to put everything together.
I have written a booklet on saleswriting and found an excellent program which uses video to walk the beginning internet marketer through the steps of how to put a business together.
I wish I would have had someone to teach me this when I started. I would not have wasted all of those hours and money trying to figure out all of the aspects of internet marketing and become totally confused.
It’s great to be able to look over someone's shoulder so to speak as they walk you through each step of how to sell on the internet. Whether it be someone else's product or your own.
